Overview
Cersat BigData & Cloud platform is a facility mainly used to perform massive data processing and mining for multi-mission satellite archives.
The Cersat BigData & Cloud Platform project started in 2010-2011. Today, it provides an online disk storage of 3 PetaBytes along with a processing capability based on a hundred nodes providing more than 1500 cores and 5TB memory using cheap hardware.
It started as a proof-of-concept to easier the use of our legacy data archives in a more efficient way, using recent technologies like petascale file systems, new generation virtual environments automatic provisioning and smart distributed processing schedulers.
It is now used everyday for large scale reprocessing campaigns projects as well as studies for scientists related to ocean.
